Relationship/Other Issues

Relationship Issues

When we have difficulties in our relationships, we feel depressed, resentful, misunderstood, irritable, alienated, or frustrated. It can affect our self-esteem and general well-being. Learning how to be ourselves and authentic with others is a key element to our well-being and success in relationships. Such issues can arise in romantic relationships, between family members, or with friends.

Some more typical relationship issues include co-dependency, difficulty deciding to stay or go, disagreement and conflict, separation, divorce, marital affair, and difficulty with relationship skills like communication. I work with individuals to address their piece of the relational issues. This facilitates improvement in the relationship and leads to greater and more longer-term benefits for the individual.

Stress and Loss/Grief Resulting from Life Circumstances

Life events like the loss of a loved one, job loss, divorce, taking care of a loved one who is ill, etc. can lead to grief, depression, anxiety, or generally feeling overwhelmed. Other events that are more additional in nature, like a change of residence, new job, or the addition of stepchildren, etc. can also cause stress, anxiety, or feeling overwhelmed.

Self -Esteem

Self-Esteem is considered to be the regard or respect one has for oneself. It is often referred to as self-worth. Self-Esteem is a central aspect of the self and one’s personality. It can powerfully influence our overall functioning, coping, and well-being. Positive change in self-esteem can lead to significant improvement in a person’s life. Poor self-esteem often arises in childhood from problematic relationships and/or experiences.
